Christmas light installation is a very common part of decorating for the holidays for most people. Some people simply enjoy putting the bright lights on their tree, while others like to put some on their house or even bushes surrounding their home.

If you plan to decorate your tree, you are going to what to consider both the size as well as the shape you are going to be working with before buying your lights. Knowing the size and shape will help in determining the number of strands of lights needed to ensure all sides of the tree are covered adequately. Generally, two or three sets of lights are needed to finish decorating the entire tree but, occasionally more are necessary.

While there is no set rule on how to brighten up your tree best, it is often a good idea to attempt to form a pattern of sorts so the tree will have as few bare spots as possible. When you have an idea of where you think the lights look best, turn the lights on so you can get a complete view of what it will look like.

If you are planning to decorate the outside of your home along with the tree, you are going to need to plan for a lot more lights. Having an idea of the size of your home and the areas that you would like to decorate can be really helpful. You will also need to keep in mind that there is a specific type of lights needed for the outside. It is very important to ensure safety, that you have chosen 'outdoor' set of lights.

Because most areas surrounding the home are quite tall, it is likely you're going to need a tall ladder to help you reach the various heights so, ask someone to watch over you while you climb the ladder to ensure you are safe while climbing. If you need to go up to a very steep height, you should utilize a safety harness to help prevent dangerous slips and falls.

You can also choose to decorate shrubs and bushes when decorating the outside of your home. It is important to remember the area you would like to decorate must be able to easily and safely reach a power supply in order for you to turn on the lights.

It is also important to keep in mind, while these decorations are beautiful to look at, they can pose a fire hazzard if they are not properly looked after. Never place a strand of lights on a dry tree or shrub. It is also important to be sure the strand you're using is in good working order not only before you put it on but, throughout the holiday season.

How much time is needed for Christmas light installation is going to depend on a number of factors including but, not limited to the size of the area that you would like to highlight. Having family or friends be part of your decorating can help get the job done faster.
