Prompt repair of irrigation system problems prevents loss or damage to landscapes and wasted water. Identifying and correcting the specific problem can prevent additional harmful impacts. Routine irrigation repairs are required so as to ensure the landscape is well watered.

Some irrigation system faults are easily fixed, but should be located so that they are repaired. The most crucial part of maintaining watering system is conducting check ups while the system is on. One of the most popular problems encountered is clogged sprinklers.

A number of steps should be observed when restoring faulty sprinklers of spray type. The pop up part of the sprinkler is raised by applying a helper. It is required that minimum force is applied so that the riser does not get damaged. Unscrew the top part of the spray head by turning counter clockwise while water is turned off, and remove the filter from the inside of the sprinkler body. The filter is supposed to be well rinsed and the rest of the system flushed to remove ant debris present before fixing it in position.

The procedure followed when working on rotor models of sprayer is first to remove the internal elements. The reason for doing this is because the filter is located below the rotor. This is achieved by way of unscrewing the top part of the rotor in anti clockwise direction. The filter is then cleaned and the rest of the line flushed to do away with any dirt present.

Worn out seals and sprinklers are what leads to most leaks. If the sprinkler body is located below ground level, the area around it should be dug out so as to free the body of the sprinkler from the soil. Clean the area where the new sprinkler will screw on so that soil will not be introduced into the system when the sprinklers are changed. Leaks often develop from broken pipe connections at the base of sprinklers, especially near streets and driveways.

Leaks can show in irrigation valves, as a result of high pressure experienced in the system or from wear and tear. For electric elements, wire connections are supposed to be done using waterproof connectors to avoid the loss of information signal between the timer and the valve as a result of water damage as the valves are normally buried underground. If an external crack is noticed on the valve, it will have to be replaced.

The sprinklers in your landscape will become obstructed in different ways. This may be as a result of objects that are left lying on the field such as cans. Some plant species may produce branches that constitute to obstruction. The person entitled with the maintenance of a certain field is expected to plant new trees with respect to watering system design.

Missing nozzles is a common problem handled during irrigation repairs. Some are damaged by mowers or get detached once the system is put in use for a long duration. A missing nozzle leads to decreased pressure in other parts of your system causing non uniform sprinkling of water.
