There are many reasons why people prefer using Tucson irrigation systems. One of them is efficiency in watering plants. The other benefit of using these systems is that they help in the conservation of water thus avoiding unnecessary wastage. These watering systems will help you save on the many hours you would have spent if you were to do it manually. There are many different types of watering systems based on the area they are meant to cover and where they are used.

The first system is sprinkler system which is commonly used in apartment complexes, parking lots and golf courses. Pressure is the main mechanism in the system. This is because the system is located underground and when there is adequate pressure the sprinkler raises out so as to water the lawn. There are some systems in this category whose sprinkler is located above the ground. The main advantage of a rotary sprinkler is that a large area is covered due to its circular motion.

The center pivot type systems are mounted on towers and uses overhead sprinklers. This type also is also able to cover a large surface. They move in circular motion when watering. The good thing with this type of a system is that you can set on a timer so turn on and water plants at the right time of the day. It is commonly used in large farms.

There is also the terrace system. This system is good when used for land which has steep slopes. There is a lot of labor needed in this system which makes it a less common type of irrigating system. One has to cut steps into the land for water to be retained and to also allow effective drain down slopes.

Drip system is the most effective type of irrigating system. Its effectiveness has been proved to be about 90 percent. This system delivers water right into the roots of the plants through dripping. It is also known as tickle system. Small quantity of water is used in this system since water is directly fed into the soil to reach the plant roots. One should however take care not to over saturate the soil. So the user has to make sure that he operates the system for a considerable amount of time to avoid destroying plants.

Surface irrigation is another system which applies gravitation force to enhance water distribution. This method is also known as flood system. This is an oldest irrigation system which is still used to date. The major disadvantage of the system is that there is lots of water usage which causes saturation on the plants.

The last one is the ditch system. This is a traditional systems which now being replaced by the modern methods. In this method, canals are dug between rows of crops. These sub-canals are joined to the main water supply canal. The main canal supplies water to various ditches to water the seedlings or plants.

Different Tucson irrigation methods are aimed at ensuring that you plants are adequately watered. The only difference in the methods is water dispensation and their mode of obtaining water from the source. Therefore, you should choose a method that meets your requirements in terms of the efficiency, water source and the size of your field. All you should look out for is whether the system you go for will supply water uniformly to your field.
