Just after you have planted those beautiful flowers, grass, and shrubs in your lawns and gardens, you discover there are trails of dirt and grass that have been pushed on the ground forming mounds and heaps of material. You need to inspect the gardens because most probably you have an uninvited guest- a mole. One effective way of ridding off moles from gardens is by using the best mole trap devices.

Because these critters almost entirely live underground, you are unable to see them often. What you may see are networks of interconnecting tunnels they dig when seeking for food. They will create shallow holes and tunnels just below the ground surfaces as they capture insects, worms, and other creatures in the soil.

One would ask why moles prefer gardens and not some other places in your home. One reason is that gardens have loose soils, which make it easy for the moles to dig holes, as they feed on insects and larva. Besides, when you water the gardens, they remain moist and provide the right environment for the survival of insects and other invertebrates.

If you think that you can see moles running on gardens- then you are mistaken. It is rare to see moles because they remain hidden in the tunnels and only come out occasionally. Therefore, you have to study their behavioral patterns including their movements.

There are substances and objects, which are designed to keep away moles but they also do not work effectively. Broken glass, razors, castor oils, and other materials may be applied. But moles are very sensitive and when they notice strange objects in their way, they try to avoid the location and burrow the adjacent grounds.

You can find different traps in hardware stores, direct from manufacturers, nurseries, and other stores but you need to realize that these devices differ. The best way to set the traps is to ensure they encircle or straddle the tunnels or alternatively they can be suspended above the holes. Since they shift their location when searching for food, you may not find it easy to know where you will place the traps.

Coming in contact with the baits can cause serious health complications or even death to your pets and children. Therefore, before you even think of baits, ensure you do not have pets and children at home. Also, remember that pets and other animals from the neighboring can access your garden and find those baits.

However, none of such methods has shown reliable results in eliminating moles. They will still continue to do the damage. Similarly, garden owners may use toxic baits placed in the holes. Since the main diet of moles are the insects and earthworms, use of baits does not yield effective results. Therefore, the only option you are left with is use of trapping devices.
