Living trees that are sold around the holidays, are growing in the ground and shortly before being put on sale are transplanted in a pot. The root system of these trees, however, is broader than the crown, and therefore usually truncates to fit in the narrow pot. Don't buy large trees in small pots- they will hardly survive until spring. In addition, keep in mind that the smaller the plant, the easier it will adapt to the change to survive the whole length of the holidays and stay with its original good looks and live for a long time after the holidays.
