There are plenty of ways to decorate the outside areas of a property. For those considering doing this, wrought iron planters are an option to consider. These attractive garden features come in a variety of shapes and sizes to suit a few different needs.

Plant stands made of wrought iron can be fashioned in a variety of stylish and intricate designs. This can include scrolling, crests, spikes and other features. The attractive finish they create is one of the main reasons to use them. In most cases they look attractive as stand-alone items, but when planted with flowers will look even better.

The dimensions of a plant box can vary from those more akin to a single plant pot, to those that are easily large enough to carry many. It is not even necessary to have the plants in pots, but those that opt for this style will need to find a way of lining their plant stand to stop the loss of soil. Sticking with a natural look can be the best option, with moss or hessian liners some of the options. An alternative to this is to line the box with synthetic fabric.

Hanging some planters around a home can enhance its appearance and the most common style is a circular shape. A combination of iron and soil can be weighty however and it should only be used in a location that can bear this load without the danger of it falling. Solid hooks and chains are the best option for a secure fitting.

Standing planters come in a variety of shapes from circular to square and rectangular. They can also be fashioned into more elaborate shapes such as wheelbarrows or water cans. Some are fitted with legs and this can lift them up to make them easier to maintain. Others simply sit on their base. Moving them into their finished position is better before putting the plants into them since the additional weight of the soil can make them more difficult to lift and maneuver.

The beauty of iron can make it desirable for indoor locations as well. The interior design of a home can be enhanced by the use of a few planters around a property. Smaller sizes are perfect for houseplants in a living room, bedroom or other location.

The traditional color of the material is black and many of the planters on the market come in this shade. It is not the only option though and it is possible to find colors such as silver and brown available. It pays to check what the material actually is when purchasing. In many cases cast iron and steel can be made to have the look of wrought iron and then marketed under the name. It can appear just as attractive although those looking for the genuine article may want to be sure that is what they are buying.

Garden centers and plant nurseries are places to look for wrought iron planters for sale. These typically have a range of garden accessories and planters may be one of these. Online landscaping stores are another avenue to consider, with many having a variety of plant stands for sale. Other than that some of the big box stores and larger internet retailers may offer some planters for sale.
