If you are new to gardening but would like to start a project, Ohio garden centers will stock everything you need. In addition to hundreds of popular plants, they usually stock a few rare and exotic species. You can get your plants, tools and all the instructions and tips you may need from the store employees to help you get your project off the ground.

Growing season for most perennials is between March and October each year. However, there are several factors to be taken into account including the soil quality, the weather and the plants preferred growing conditions. You will also need to consider whether you have the space and the right conditions to grow from scratch, or if you should buy plants which are already established.

Everything you may need to encourage your plants to grow and keep your plants free of pests can be found at your local garden store. Staff are usually familiar with the products, what they should be used for, and will be able to advise on the best solution for you. Many are now branching out into selling other natural and healthy products such as fresh fruit and vegetables

If you have a fairly large garden you may be looking to buy some furniture or ornamental goods. These products are hard-wearing and can last for years. Many of the pieces have been made by hand rather than machine and will be more costly than some of the manufactured pieces. They tend to be carved from a piece of wood or stone and are unique.

When you are starting a project from scratch, there are several good books on how to design and plan your available space. Most are readily available from your local garden center, your library or you can download tips and information from the internet. If you feel you are quite creative, you can access plenty of useful hints and tips which will help you to establish your garden of choice.

You may be one of the many hundreds of people living in an apartment or shared building with no outdoor space to call your own. Growing plants inside your apartment, or on the window sills helps to bring some color and a feeling of the outside into your home. It also helps to enhance the exterior appeal of the building when there are a few window boxes and some color.

Many urban gardens are on the roof of a building. However, you will need approval from the City and the building owner before you can install a roof garden. There may be difficulties in providing access to the roof, or in the transporting of tools and equipment needed to plant and maintain the project. Other tenants in the building may not be amenable to having a garden above their heads.

Ohio garden centers actively promote health and well-being by encouraging and educating their customers about the benefits of growing their own fruit and vegetables. Gardening provides a form of exercise which is good for the gardener and helps to keep their space clear of weeds allowing their plants to grow. There is also a lot of self-satisfaction to be had when you see the results of your hard work.
