Paver patios look great in any garden. They are so easy to maintain, they do nor require any special care, and they provide very nice area for outdoor living. Spending your time in your lovely garden with your friends and family is always very appealing idea, and it doesn't matter if your patio is made of stones or bricks.

The best thing is that you can make it yourself, with just a little bit of time and effort. Of course, it will be much easier to hire a professional landscape designer and a reliable contractor, but if you are willing to work hard for a day or two, you can really do it yourself. Use your imagination and roll up your sleeves, and you are ready to go.

The first thing you should do is to choose the area where you would like to set your new patio and decide about the size and shape. Then you should choose the type of material you would like to use. You can use stone, brick or concrete paver, depending on your taste, as well as your financial capability.

Stone blocks are expensive, but they really look amazingly good in every garden. Stone blocks are available in numerous colors and shades, and can be combined. Bricks are cheaper, and look equally attractive, especially if they fit into your existing exterior decoration. For this particular purpose you should use special paver bricks.

Once you buy your pavers, you need to obtain enough gravel and sand as well. You will also need weed control landscape fabric, and some tools. Shovels, strings and hammers are essential. You probably have all the tools required at your home, and some can be bought or rented.

The procedure is as follows: mark the edges of the future suffer and dig a hole in the ground, deep enough for a layer of crushed stone, sand layer and the thickness of the material for paving. First you need to set up a layer of landscape fabric, followed by a layer of gravel. This layer should be compacted using a special machine that can be rented.

Place another layer of landscape fabric on the gravel. You don't want your sand to mix with the gravel. Now you should set a send and compact it as well, and you are ready to start placing the edge pavers. Use a rubber hammer to level them. Once you set edge pavers, continue with inner ones, until you are done. It is important to leave enough space between them. This space will be filled with sand later.

Fill the spaces between pavers using a broom. It is best to use a special type of polymeric sand for this purpose. In reaction with water, it will create solid bond between your blocks. Make sure to remove all excess sand from the surface before spraying it with water, and your work is over. With paver patios, you just cannot go wrong. Enjoy your lovely garden.
